Maari has worked in various roles in the field of human rights for more than a decade. For example, for several years she managed international projects on human rights education at HarNo and worked in Brussels as a junior policy advisor on gender equality and migration at the FEPS think tank of the European Parliament. She also has experience as a trainer, most recently at Mondo.

She completed her Master’s degree in Gender Studies at the Central European University in Budapest and Bachelor’s studies in Adult Education at Tallinn University. Maari has also participated in a research project on social guarantees and mobility at Södertörn University in Stockholm. She believes in violence prevention and values non-conventional initiatives, diversity, empathy and caring. Recently, she has been interested in the rights of women with special needs and prisoners’ access to human rights.

About herself: feminist, loves to write and enjoys reading Gothic and Victorian novels by younger generation female authors. Fluent in English and has visited a quarter of the world’s countries. Loves nature and animals.
