Ministry of Defence of Estonia organises regularly organisation’s development days. The development day in 2014 focuses on how opened and closed the work of the ministry is, and tries to interpret it both in the terms of communication (internal and external) and of attitudes. Praxis cooperates with the Ministry of Defence to design the development day, to support it methodologically and to help to carry it out.

Starting points for choosing working methods for the development day are the following:

  • Inspiring – the participants get new ideas and approaches, and see new perspectives which would help them to be more creative and think “outside the box”.
  • Meaningful – the development day supports professional development of the participants, the phenomena “opened and closed ministry” will be opened during the day as well as the challenges of internal communication.
  • Gripping – the participants have an active role by thinking and acting together.
  • Practical – discussions will not remain abstract but lead to concrete ideas and solutions.

Chosen working methods:

Inspiration speech: short inspiring presentation which brings the participants together and gives them ideas to think about.

Workshops: using different methods and environment to analyse specific problems.

Joint discussion based on the outcomes of the workshops: drawing conclusions of the problems by visualising the results of the workshops.

Learning from others: captivating short presentations using PechaKucha method with the aim to offer “out of the box” solutions.

“World Cafe”: method of engagement, which uses active discussions to generate solutions.
