Praxis Academy

Praxis Academy is a centre for training and advancement to offer solutions for reasonable state governance and the management of complicated policy challenges in Estonia and abroad. The services and activities of the Academy are based on the knowledge and reform experience of the experts from Praxis, Estonia and other countries. Our work is supported by scientific research and we use a systematic approach to governance and policy challenges; this results in practical solutions in policy making. The vision of the Academy is to foster an open, safe, reasonable, accountable and engaging state that successfully and smartly uses its social, economic and natural capital.

The main services of the Praxis Academy are training and advancement activities for adults. The Academy focuses mainly, but not exclusively, on topics and fields where we have a thorough understanding, knowledge and synergy. These include governance, civil society, public service delivery, policy analysis and its implementation, public sector management, health, labour and social policy, economy and education.

Praxis Academy’s work is targeted primarily at politicians, civil servants, civil society leaders and researchers in Estonia and abroad. We:

  • Share Praxis´ own knowledge and experience;
  • Bring knowledge and experience from other countries into Estonia;
  • Introduce Estonia`s successful reform experience;
  • Introduce the achievements of Praxis as a successful think tank.

The training and advancement activities of Praxis Academy can be described as follows:

  • Creative and proactive – in addition to professional and high-quality service, we also take charge of the curriculum and content of the activities;
  • Practical – we share and adapt experience and research-based knowledge and translate the language of policies into plain language for people;
  • Knowledge brokering – we advance the use of knowledge in making better policy choices and governance and translate the language of research into the language of policy making;
  • Synergistic – we show the interdependence of various topics and fields and conduct political dialogues between the representatives of fields and topics.

In addition to the general and expert knowledge of topics and fields, we focus on the lessons from reforms and on the challenges and obstacles in the process of policy making and governance. We discuss lessons that Estonia has faced and considerations that Estonia used when making executive decisions on policy making objectively, honestly and without judgment. So far, we have shared our knowledge and experience in Estonia mainly in the field of good governance, public service delivery and engagement and for the health sector leaders from China, Vietnam, Armenia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
